The County Attorney’s Office is a multi-faceted department that plays an integral role in the county. This office is responsible for the prosecution of Class A and B Misdemeanors in both County Court and County Court-at-Law, the prosecution of Class C Misdemeanors in five Justice of the Peace Courts, and the prosecution of Misdemeanor and Felony Juvenile offenses. The office hosts a bi-monthly Victim’s Options Class for survivors of domestic violence and is staffed with a Victim’s Assistance Coordinator.
The County Attorney provides legal advice to the Commissioner’s Court and other elected officials and departments who seek advice related to their official duties.
