 COVID-19 VACCINATION

RIGHT NOW

Chambers County Public Health is currently one of 13 COVID-19 providers in Chambers County.  We are actively vaccinating people who are age 18 or older. We have recently been chosen as a State of Texas COVID-19 Vaccination Hub Provider.

STATE OF TEXAS COVID-19 VACCINATION HUB PROVIDER

What does this mean? Beginning in January, Texas established large vaccination sites or hubs around the state. The goal of these hubs is to provide more people the vaccine and a simpler way to sign up for an appointment. Providers will focus on vaccinating areas and populations hardest hit by COVID-19.

Phase 1A and 1B individuals are eligible to receive a vaccine at these hubs, regardless of where they reside.

  • Phase 1A: Front-line healthcare workers and residents at long-term care facilities
  • Phase 1B: People over 65 or with a chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from COVID 19
  • Phase 1C: People 50 to 64 years of age
  • School and Licensed Child Care Personnel:

With the federal directive, the following education and child care personnel are now eligible to be vaccinated in Texas:

    • Those who work in pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools;
    • Head Start and Early Head Start programs (including teachers, staff, and bus drivers); and
    • Those who work as or for licensed child care providers, including center-based and family care providers.

Additional information for educators and school staff is available in the Texas Education Agency (TEA) K-12 COVID-19 Vaccine FAQ.

AUTHORIZED AND RECOMMENDED VACCINES

As COVID-19 vaccines are authorized and then recommended for use in the United States, it will be important to understand what is known about each vaccine. CDC will provide information on who is and is not recommended to receive each vaccine and what to expect after vaccination, as well as ingredients, safety, and effectiveness.

Currently, two vaccines are authorized and recommended to prevent COVID-19 and Chambers County Public Health and Chambers County as a whole as been allocated the Moderna vaccine:

AFTER VACCINATION USE V-SAFE

v-safe is a smartphone-based tool that gives you personalized health check-ins after you receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

  • Through v-safe, you can quickly tell CDC if you have any side effects after getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • v-safe will also remind you to get your second COVID-19 vaccine dose if you need one.
